October is Energy Awareness Month
Every watt has a backstory. Even the ones behind your favorite tee.
October is Energy Awareness Month, and we’re looking beyond the light switch. From raw materials to finished fabric, there’s more to a shirt than what you see on the hanger.
Better apparel starts with less energy
How much energy can choosing Allmade save compared with similar conventional apparel? Picture it in hours of LED light:

Give your laundry an energy makeover
Your shirt’s impact doesn’t stop at checkout. The average American family washes about 300 loads of laundry a year, according to ENERGY STAR. That’s almost six loads a week. Plenty of chances to make a small change count.
Keep it cool. Water heating accounts for about 90% of the energy used to operate a clothes washer. Wash in cold water when care instructions allow.
Make it a full load. Wait until you have a full load, without overstuffing the machine.
Let it hang. Give the dryer a break. Air-drying saves energy and can help your clothes last longer.
