You can save up to 30,000 liters of water per year and a lot of energy by using an efficient washing machine. 2. WASH FULL LOADS. Reducing the number of loads significantly saves water, energy, and money. 3. WEAR IT MORE THAN ONCE. Some clothes (not socks & underwear, obviously) don’t need to be washed after each use. 4. USE GREEN DETERGENT. Conventional detergents can contain ingredients that are harmful to you, your clothes and waterways. 5. USE COLD WATER. 90% of the energy used to wash clothes goes to heating the water. 6. DON’T USE TUMBLE DRYERS. Dryers use a lot of energy. Hang drying your clothes can make them last longer and it saves energy! 7. AVOID DRY CLEANING. Conventional dry cleaning uses harsh chemicals. Avoid this all together and use green dry cleaners.
